Wedding anniversary poem

This is a wedding anniversary poem that my fantastic wife wrote for her parents (i think it was their 40th anniversary?)…

Wedding Flowers

Life seemed easier in the Sixties
Where two people were destined to meet
Him a Chippy and her a Nurse
A romance started which seemed quite sweet

January 1970 arrived
And the couple said “I do”
A life together they started
And soon their family grew

Their first born, a son, arrived
Followed by a daughter after a few years
Their life was happy and complete
Where they shared their hopes and fears

They had a few parties
They had some fun
He loved fast cars
She loved the sun

They travelled about
Lived here and there
Spain, The States, Wellingborough
Oh, that jet-setting pair!

So 40 years together
Congrats! What’s your secret rule or law?
She’s got lots of patience
He watches Utd and shouts “FORE”

So here’s to many more years
Of fun, happiness and laughter
Keep enjoying yourselves
And live happily ever after
